Who operates this site

Remembering Keigo Higashino is an independent reader memorial and reading guide. It is not affiliated with the author, his family, publishers, or estate. Privacy questions and requests may be sent to editor@rememberingkeigo.com.

Information you choose to publish

The reader-remembrance form accepts an optional display name, an optional book title, and a message. Submissions are stored with a random record identifier, language, publication status, and submission time and are displayed publicly immediately. Do not include an email address, home address, phone number, private account details, or other sensitive personal information in a remembrance.

We may hide or remove submissions that contain spam, unlawful material, private information, abuse, or content outside the purpose of the memorial. To request removal or correction of a remembrance, email the address above and provide enough detail for us to identify it.

Flowers, candles, and local preferences

The “Lay a flower” and “Light a candle” controls store your selected state and a one-count-per-browser marker in local storage. When you activate a gesture, the site also sends the gesture type—flower or candle—to our first-party counter and increments an aggregate total. The counter does not receive a name, email address, message, or donation.

The site also uses local storage to remember a language choice, whether you dismissed the language suggestion, and whether you accepted or declined optional analytics. These preferences are needed to remember choices you make on the site and are not used for advertising.

First-party measurement

Hosting providers may process standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, requested page, and time of access for security and reliability. Our first-party analytics records page paths, referring domains or campaign sources, selected internal navigation destinations, and retailer-link clicks. For those selected links it may also record the page placement, book key, page language, retailer, and general format label. It does not set an analytics cookie or store an IP address, name, email address, or cross-site identifier. Browser “Do Not Track” signals disable these events. Raw event records are retained for up to 90 days. We do not sell personal information.

Optional Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity

Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity load only after you select “Accept analytics.” If you decline, those third-party analytics scripts are not loaded. Google Analytics may use a first-party identifier cookie and process usage, device, browser, and approximate-location information. Advertising storage, advertising personalization, and Google Signals are disabled in this implementation.

Clarity is used to understand aggregate clicks, scrolling, heatmaps, and session replays so we can improve navigation and usability. It may process device, browser, interaction, and approximate-location information. Sensitive form fields are not intentionally included in analysis, and remembrance form values must not be sent to analytics providers.

You can reopen the analytics choice from the “Privacy choices” control in the footer. Declining after previously accepting stops future optional analytics, updates consent signals for both providers, and asks Clarity to clear its analytics cookies. Retention and security

First-party analytics events are retained for up to 90 days. Public remembrances are retained while they remain part of the memorial unless they are removed through moderation or a valid request. Aggregate flower and candle totals are retained without a visitor identity. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but access to stored data is limited to the operation and moderation of the site.

Children

This site is intended for a general reading audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request contact information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so it can be reviewed and removed.

Your choices and requests

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or information about processing. We may need enough information to locate the relevant record and to verify that a request is legitimate. You may also disable optional analytics, clear site storage, use browser privacy controls, or avoid publishing a remembrance.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page before introducing materially different data uses such as email subscriptions, personalized advertising, or additional analytics providers. The date at the top records the latest material revision.
